What a journey we are on! I seriously get so excited every time a new shipment of essential oils arrives at my front door. It makes me feel like a child on Christmas morning. I’ve been using essential oils in my daily routine since 2007 and became the oil lady, as in all-in, full-blown, scream-it-from-the-mountain-tops oil lady, only as of 2015. Why did it take me so long? I was simply a user until, well… I wasn’t. So what pushed me over the top? It was all my friends who were now getting fully into oils. I was so excited for them. Seriously excited. But something wasn’t quite right. We would chat every now and again and something was off. They were telling me advice their friends were telling them to do with these oils that were not right.
People who know me, know I have a hard time staying silent when someone is misled. So I started opening my big mouth to my friends. I had no idea how huge the essential oil world had gotten. There were thousands upon thousands of people in social media groups sharing their success stories and helping each other to better health and wellness. So I started opening my big mouth in these groups too. What surprised me is that my usage practices were different from most of these newer people. There was so much amazing and good information and tips they were sharing with each other, however mixed in, were some things they didn’t quite understand so they based their sharing on assumption.
I used to be a part of a large mastermind group and our one group rule was to never give advice to anyone unless you had actual experience to back up your advice. We did not allow assumptive advice. What I was seeing in these essential oil user groups was a ton of assumptive advice. This would lead people down a wild goose chase often leaving them frustrated and sometimes claiming oils don’t work. My voice started becoming a trusted resource based on my actual experience using essential oils. As an educator by profession, I take teaching very seriously. Even though my knowledge base was seemingly larger than most, I knew if I was going to go down the path to call myself the oil lady, I needed to dig in and learn more.
This site is for my essential oil friends who adore finding new recipes and ways of properly using essential oils. I am trained in French Medicinal Aromatherapy with a Certificate in Aromatic Medicine, however my training is also mingled with my many years of usage of essential oils and training in nutrition and overall health. My main usage method is based off of the French model. There is a lot of controversy surrounding the topic of French Aromatherapy, however my prayer is that the resources found on this site along with my books and educational groups will come as a blessing to many people.
I love that you are on this journey with me, so let’s begin!
